Role in the fight
VF-172 guards the carrier group from a distance. We fly combat air patrol and long-range intercepts to deal with threats before they get close.
Flying the F-14B in DCS
The Tomcat needs two crew, a pilot and a RIO. The RIO runs the AWG-9 radar and the AIM-54 Phoenix while the pilot flies the jet. It takes practice to get the crew working smoothly.
